MANILA, PhilippinesﾑWhether its soothing oneﾕs senses or pumping oneﾕs adrenaline, music definitely chases the blues away and brings out that sometimes elusive smile at the end (or even in between the stresses) of an otherwise long and draining workday. And if you think appreciating music is fun for those listeningﾑtry imagining how much more it is for people making it; and sharing all that cheer with everyone within earshot. Writing songs, singing them, and performing in front of an audience should be funﾑask any band or singer who has made it in the wonderful world of music.

This week, Super together with Nokia Musicﾕs Independent Artists Club, sings along with The Dorques.

Presented by Nokia, the mobile music leader, IAC is meant to be the hub for new music for fresh homegrown talents in Asia. IAC gives new acts the means to be discovered through its exclusive IAC chart.

Thanks to IAC, these indie artists now have a shot at amplifying their music in cyberspace, sharing it to a wider audience.

Whatﾕs in a name?

ﾒThe Dorques was a funny name we thought of when we were practicing.ﾓ

ﾒThereﾕs Joffy Cruz on vocals and guitar, Aimee Marcos on vocals and drums, Arnel Fabiana on bass, Nina Beltran on vocals and synthesizer, and Tani Santos on guitar.ﾓ

Joy of indie-pendence

ﾒThe abundance of probable improbables, not being told how to sound. You also donﾕt have to worry about what you have to say or who you might offend. And the fun of learning how bands work. I think when youﾕre signed up with a major label they call the shots, not you.

Sound control

ﾒThe music we play could be classified as funk, indie, pop, or rock but itﾕs really a colorful mix of all musical genres. For those who havenﾕt heard our music, ﾒWaltzing Awayﾓ is a fun song to listen to. Itﾕs one of those songs that compares to drinking a cup of coffee in the morningﾑitﾕs sure to wake you up with its fun beats! The song is basically about ﾔbeing infatuatedﾕ and acting dumb because of it. ﾒMurasaki Blueﾓ is another song that they might want to listen to. Itﾕs an exaggerated love song. It has a very catchy beat that starts off like a smitten kittenﾕs monologueﾓ
