Band Profile
Current members of Travellators are

Jacklyn Soo is a gamelan musician for 6 years, a multi-disciplinary fine artist and founder of Travellators. She aspires to express visions that go beyond the conventional and to present/introduce artistes of similar thought.

She started playing Indonesian Gamelan as an extra class during her Fine Art studies at the now LASALLE College of the Arts and soon found herself progressing and performing in numerous music events both on the international and local front. Her teachers are well-known Gamelan professors, Dr. Alex Dea and Pak Midiyanto. Both of which have contributed and helped shaped her interest in preserving ethnic cultures.

Jacklyn experiences Gamelan music as an "offering to nature in the most abstract form" and with this notion in mind and heart, she takes on new challenges in working on both traditional and new-creation music.

Jacklyn has performed at various events such as the Opening Festival of The Esplanade-Theatres on the Bay in October 2002 (Singapore), the Opening of Asian Civilisation Museum 2003 and Opening Festival of the ArtsHouse 2004. In March 2005, she was selected alongside 2 other members from Gamelan asm罫慧系 for Continuum Asia Project Youth-to-Youth Exchange to Luang Prabang, LAOS organised by Theatreworks Singapore.

Jacklyn holds a certificate of Javanese (Solo) Gamelan playing from STSI (Surakarta) and is a pioneer member of Singaporeユs First Professional Gamelan Company/Ensemble, Gamelan asm罫慧系.

She provides artistic direction, motivation, gamelan traditional/experimental tunes and vocals for the band.

Ragha is current pursuing his musical dream at Lasalle-SIA College of the Arts, and is well on his way to achieving his Diploma in Music. Ragha has taken up an active role in Swathi, the Nritalaya Art Academyユs youth ensemble. She has an ABRSM classical music certificate of Grade 5 proficiency.

In 2007, Chingmei formed an a cappella group consisting of polytechnic choir alumni named Beats and Pieces and is now in a newly formed a cappella group, known as Mochapella.
She also owns an a cappella blog known as A Cappella S.O.U.N.D.S (http://acapellamusic.blogspot.com), a hobby blog that sprang from the love of a cappella music.

Her musical influences vary from Christian contemporary, pop, jazz, bossa nova and a cappella.

Her interest in fusion music came about when she met Jacklyn who was on the look out for a versatile keyboardist and so was robbed in to join Travellators as their keyboardist.

Rashid is 28 year old undergrad currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Design. He also teaches Part-time ヤIntroduction to Design and Architectureユ in his course. An avid player on the guitar, Rashid enjoys playing the guitar in his two other bands: Dualtone and Standstrong, both of which have elements of jazz and blues influences.

Rashidユs latest performance for Travellators involved experimenting and mixing of his western instrument with the ethnic scale and tuning system from the Gamelan and India flute. It was not an easy task for him at first but he soon grew more comfortable and used to its sounds. Rashid has performed in various intimate events around Singapore as well as its neighbour country, Malaysia. He hopes to perform in more ethnically infused music as this also brings a certain light to his own ethnic roots being a authentic Malay himself.
